To understand the logistics of a ceramic coating it’s important to know what’s already on your vehicle.
Your vehicles paint is made up of a primer, base coat (color coat), and then a clear coat. The clear coat is what gives your paint its shine and depth.
Similar to all paint, like paint on the exterior of a house, it will start to deteriorate and oxidize from UV rays, weather, and debris.
A ceramic coating is initially applied as a liquid polymer. Because it contains silica dioxide, after its curation period it creates an incredible, hard, glass like layer to your vehicles' exterior.

A ceramic coating can be explained as your paints sacrificial layer to UV ray damage, water damage, and environmental damage. Instead of your paints clear, or base layer fighting these harsh elements and deteriorating quickly, a ceramic coating would protect your paint. 

Not only does a ceramic coating create a shine like you have never seen. It offers several additional benefits because of the amazing chemical formula it was created with. 

A ceramic coating provides hydrophobic qualities, meaning, water will roll off of any surface that is not completely level. 

This allows your vehicle to stay clean longer, it makes cleaning it easier and will also prevent water from etching into your exterior after your vehicle is hit with rain, a sprinkler, etc. 

Unlike traditionally practiced paint protectants, a ceramic coating can last for years, without deteriorating or literally melting in the sun after a few days or weeks like wax will.
